Installation & Features

Open the Google Play Store or Apple App Store on your device.

Search for "Jio Pages" in the search bar.

Click on the "Install" button.

Wait for the installation process to complete. Once the installation is complete, open the Jio Pages app. Click on the checkbox to agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

The next screen displays the Languages. You will be thrilled to see that along with English it does support other 12 regional Indian languages. This is a highlight for the Indian audience.

On clicking continue, you land at a screen which is related to news topics. You can select from a range of news categories such as Sports, Politics, Technology, Business etc. On enabling the particular categories you get short news related to them.

You land at the Homepage of the browser, which features both a normal mode and a dark Mode.

You get to customise the homepage, you can disable the banner, quicklinks, News etc and have only the search bar. There is also a classic view that you get to have once you earn crowns.

JioPages lets you browse without logging in. However if you log in, you get to earn crowns, for logging in, opening the browser daily, making it a default browser and many more as they keep adding on.

Incognito Mode

JioPages browser has an amazing Incognito mode, that you can use normally or you can setup a biometric fingerprint access and a password / PIN. The best feature of the incognito mode is you can bookmark the pages in the incognito mode also.

VPN

The browser has a built-in VPN, that you can activate when required. You can use the VPN for the app alone or for the whole phone. But this feature comes with ads.

Privacy

Though we have seen multiple features towards ease of access and a few security features, the JioPages Privacy Policy is not oriented towards an users privacy protection. It is clearly stated in their Privacy Policy that they collect data that identifies a user, like name, gender, age etc. It also stores the URLs you visit, the IP address associated, the downloads, the permissions granted by you to other websites etc.
However, you can manage this by deleting your browsing history information.

Safe but not user privacy protected

As we have seen that JioPages browser with its multiple protection features, boasts being a fast and safe browser, which is true. However when it comes to user privacy it is just like any most used browsers, like Chrome, Safari etc.

This means that you will be safe from malwares and other virus, but your browsing information is not private. Your data will be used by 3rd party cookies to target ads to you.

It is a safe browser that you can use. You can protect your privacy and use the browser safely by enabling certain security features, like ad blockers, secure mode, and incognito mode, by using search engines such as DuckDuckGo.

It is undoubtedly fast.

Overall we recommend using JioPages browser as you can use features such as short news, games, quizzes, binge-watch in 13 languages, user-friendly interface, crowns as rewards etc. In terms of safety and privacy, it does rank well, however, if you are looking for a total privacy browser, you could consider Tor browser, Firefox etc.
